Linux is a powerful and versatile operating system used in many computing environments. A Linux user must have a basic understanding of the system in order to interact with it and make use of its features.
Earning criteria
- command-line: has basic knowledge of the command line and can use basic commands to perform tasks.
- system-navigation: knows how to navigate the Linux file system and find files and directories.
- ssh: knows how to connect to a remote Linux system using SSH.
- analyse-logs: knows how to analyse log files to troubleshoot problems.
- network-configuration: knows how to configure and troubleshoot network interfaces.
- network-tools: knows how to use basic network tools such as ping, traceroute, curl, wget, telnet.
- processes: knows how to view and manage running processes.
- edit-files: knows how to edit files using the command line.
- configuration: has the ability to configure and customise various aspects of the system.
- packages: understands how to install, update, and remove packages from the system.
- permissions: knows how to set permissions on files and directories to control access.
- security: knows how to secure a Linux server with firewalls and user authentication.
- troubleshooting: can diagnose and troubleshoot server issues.
